SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James Wesley Long of Silvis, who passed away on December 19, 2016; and

WHEREAS, James Long was born in Le Claire, Iowa to Emory and Stella Coffin Long on March 6, 1932; he served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War; he then served for eight years in the Army Reserve; he was discharged with the rank of Corporal in 1962; and

WHEREAS, James Long worked for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Rock Island from 1958 until 1983; and

WHEREAS, James Long was commander of American Legion Post 246; and

WHEREAS, James Long was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Robert, William, and Fred Long; and

WHEREAS, James Long is survived by his daughter, Karen (Marquel) Reynolds; his son, Kenneth (Kim) Long; and his grandchildren, Kylie Long, Moriah Bangura-Long, Maliyah Reynolds, and Micah Reynolds; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James Wesley Long, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of James Long as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
