SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Norman E. Slead of Moline, who passed away on December 7, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Norman Slead was born in Washington, Iowa to Richard and Dorothy (Holdefer) Slead on August 12, 1948; he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War; he married Cheryl J. Cutler-Nicke in Elko, Nevada on January 16, 1983; and

WHEREAS, Norman Slead retired from John Deere Davenport Works in 2006, after 33 years of service; and

WHEREAS, In his early years, Norman Slead enjoyed playing baseball, softball, and wrestling; later, he played racquetball and golf; he enjoyed traveling, gardening, and art work; he enjoyed spending time with his family, and his beloved dog, Sugar Bear; and

WHEREAS, Norman Slead is survived by his wife, Cheryl; his children, Rachael (Mark) Kwasny, Joshua Slead, Zach Nicke, and Michelle Benson; his grandchildren, Audrey, Natalie, Alex, Kameron, Lauren, and Abbie; his sisters, Pat (Pete) Strupp, and Monica (Larry) York; and his brothers, Tom (Pam) Slead, and Mike Slead; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Norman E. Slead, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Norman Slead as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
