SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ardon R. "Ardie" Thompson of Silvis, who passed away on November 27, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Ardon Thompson was born in Geneseo on May 30, 1943; he served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967; he married Ada Darlene Williams in Fort Hood, Texas on January 14, 1968; and

WHEREAS, Ardon Thompson was employed with Case International Harvester (IH) as an assembly lineman for 36 years, retiring on July 1, 2002; and

WHEREAS, Ardon Thompson enjoyed collecting trains and going to car shows; he also loved going out to eat with his family and his special friend, Sandy; he especially looked forward to Saturday mornings when he would meet up with his fellow retirees for breakfast; and

WHEREAS, Ardon Thompson was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; his mother, Bernice Ockee Thompson; his brother-in-law, Wade Williams; and his mother-in-law, Helen Williams; and

WHEREAS, Ardon Thompson is survived by his significant other, Sandra Wenz; his daughter, Kim Thompson; his brother, Ron (Pat) Thompson; his sisters, Zelda (Jimmy) Cowan, Diane "Toot" (Alan) Deets, and Carolyn (Bill) Neal; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ardon R. "Ardie" Thompson, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ardon Thompson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
