| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Eugene J. "Gene" Desaunoy of Milan, who | 4 | | passed away on November 24, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Eugene Desaunoy was born in Rock Island to John | 6 | | and Elizabeth Coene Desaunoy on April 30, 1927; he served in | 7 | | the United States Army during the Korean War; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Eugene Desaunoy worked as a sales representative | 9 | | for John Hancock Insurance for 24 years, retiring in 1988; he | 10 | | had previously worked at Fuller Brush Company; and | 11 | | WHEREAS, Eugene Desaunoy was a parishioner of St. Ambrose | 12 | | Church in Milan, for over 80 years, where he served as a | 13 | | extraordinary minister of the Eucharist since 1978, lector for | 14 | | over 24 years, member of the parish council and choir, and | 15 | | brought communion to hospital patients and shut-ins; his other | 16 | | memberships include St. Ambrose Knights of Columbus Council | 17 | | 12576, Legion of Mary at St. Ambrose, Pope John XXIII | 18 | | Fraternity of the Secular Franciscans, and the Milan American | 19 | | Legion Post 569; he received the Pere Marquette Award from the | 20 | | Diocese of Peoria; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Eugene Desaunoy enjoyed growing gladiolus, |

| 1 | | gardening, golfing, listening to classical music, and | 2 | | attending family events with his nieces and nephews; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Eugene Desaunoy was preceded in death by his | 4 | | parents, and his sisters, Margaret Peebler and Barbara Cover; | 5 | | and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Eugene Desaunoy is survived by his sister, Mary | 7 | | (Ken) Galusha, and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Eugene J. "Gene" Desaunoy, and extend our sincere condolences | 11 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 12 | | it further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Eugene Desaunoy as an expression of | 15 | | our deepest sympathy.
