SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Harold E. Carter, who passed away on
4October 22, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harold Carter was born in Indiana on September 26,
61934; he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies
7from Ball State University in 1957 and a Master of Arts in
8Elementary Education and Administration from Ball State
9University in 1962; he was a member of the Phi Delta Kappa
10Educational Honorary Society; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Harold Carter worked as a teacher and
12administrator in public schools for over 20 years; he started
13his career as a teacher and became an assistant superintendent
14and a principal later in his career; he then moved into sales
15positions, selling school supplies; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Harold Carter was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan for
17over 50 years and waited until after the Cubs won the National
18League Championship before he left this Earth; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Harold Carter had a passion for books and history;
20he idolized Abraham Lincoln and was fascinated by the Civil
21War; he was a longtime blood donor and was recognized for his

1many donations; he was a Mason and was active in the Masonic
2Lodge when he was younger; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Harold Carter's family was his top priority; he
4was a loyal husband for nearly 54 years to his wife, Sandra; a
5dedicated father to his two adopted children, Scott and Melia;
6a devoted father-in-law to Ginny Carter, and his son-in-law,
7Tom Cousins; and a doting grandfather to Kailan Carter, Jessica
8Carter, Ava Cousins, and Eli Cousins; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Harold E. Carter, and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Harold E. Carter as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
