SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of D. Steven Maricle of Peoria, who passed away on October 23, 2016; and

WHEREAS, D. Steven Maricle was born on October 12, 1947 in Peoria; his parents were Doyle and Frances Maricle; he married Linda Trail on July 19, 1969; and

WHEREAS, D. Steven Maricle played high school and collegiate sports as a young man; and

WHEREAS, D. Steven Maricle was a Sergeant in the Illinois Air National Guard; he retired after many years of service as a funeral director; and

WHEREAS, D. Steven Maricle was a longtime member of Mt. Olive Missionary Church and later a founding elder of White Rose Fellowship in Bellevue; he attended Richwoods Christian Church at the time of his passing; and

WHEREAS, D. Steven Maricle had a great love of music; he sang in many church and area music events, including the Pride of Peoria Chorus; he was also a member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America; and

WHEREAS, D. Steven Maricle was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild; and

WHEREAS, D. Steven Maricle is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Dyrke (Sarah) Maricle and Jordan (Joshua) Clum; his grandchildren, Ethan, Lucie, and Arlis Maricle and Ellowyn Clum; his sister, Christine (Roy) Buck; and two nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of D. Steven Maricle; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of D. Steven Maricle as an expression of our sympathy.
