SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Karl N. Schmidt of McHenry, who passed away on September 20, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Karl Schmidt was born on December 15, 1932 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin; his parents were Edwin and Margret Schmidt; he married Zofia Strojna on November 30, 1985 at St. Mary Church in McHenry; and

WHEREAS, Karl Schmidt served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1967 and was stationed in Vietnam, Japan, and Germany; and

WHEREAS, Karl Schmidt worked at the Lakeshore Country Club in Glencoe for 34 years; and

WHEREAS, Karl Schmidt was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in McHenry for 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Karl Schmidt enjoyed traveling, boating, being outdoors, and spending time with his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Karl Schmidt was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Roger and Edwin Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Karl Schmidt is survived by his loving wife, Zofia; his sisters, Carol (Al) Udovich and Joanne Hinze; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Karl N. Schmidt; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Karl Schmidt as an expression of our sympathy.
