SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Carl J. "Duke" Trent of Rock Island, who passed away on October 18, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Carl Trent was born on June 24, 1917 in Brewster, Nebraska; his parents were Edward and Anna Morgan Trent; he married Donna E. Boyer on September 6, 1947 in Farmington, Iowa; and

WHEREAS, Carl Trent served with the United States Army in Africa and Italy during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Carl Trent worked as a coal miner and at John Deere Plow Planter; he was also a truck driver for Phillips Petroleum for many years; and

WHEREAS, Carl Trent was a member of Oak Ridge Bible Chapel in Milan; he enjoyed gardening; and

WHEREAS, Carl Trent is survived by his wife, Donna; his sons, Jack (Kathy) Trent, Steve (Crystal) Trent, and Mike (Brenda) Trent; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Justin, Tina, Chad, Adam, Jason, and Jennifer; and 17 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Carl J. "Duke" Trent; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Carl Trent as an expression of our sympathy.
