SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Heinz G. Veigel of Rock Island, who passed away on October 4, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Heinz Veigel was born in Besigheim, Germany to Emil and Martha (Wagnel) Veigel on June 28, 1939; he immigrated to the United States at the age of 18 and enlisted in the United States Army, serving four years; and

WHEREAS, Heinz Veigel worked for John Deere Harvester Works for 34 years until his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Heinz Veigel was a Mason for 47 years at the Doric Lodge-Ancient Free & Accepted Masons in Moline; he enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially during his trips to Germany; he also enjoyed reading, fishing, and caring for his dog, Lucky; and

WHEREAS, Heinz Veigel was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Heinz Veigel is survived by his son, Erich (Courtney) Veigel; his daughter, Heidi (Rick) Veigel-Fetterer; his grandchildren, Emily, Ethan, and E.J. Veigel, and Alec, Jacob, Riley, and Reece Fetterer; his great-granddaughter, Stella Fetterer; his sister and brother-in-law, Elsbeth and Günder Gerlach; and his nephew and niece, Ralph and Bettina Gerlach; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Heinz G. Veigel, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Heinz Veigel as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
