SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Arthur "Ozzie" Frank Carlson of Silvis,
4who passed away on September 20, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Arthur Carlson was born in Geneseo to Abner F. and
6Louise C. Kulper Carlson on December 24, 1928; he married
7Dolores E. Swanson at St. Paul Lutheran Church on April 8,
81949; he served in the United States Army during the Korean
9War; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Arthur Carlson worked for the former Hardin
11Implement in Orion before being drafted into the Army; he later
12worked in electrical wiring for Montgomery Elevator in Moline;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Arthur Carlson was a member of the Orion American
15Legion and the Orion VFW and Honor Guard, where he helped with
16the annual Easter Egg Hunts; he and his wife were chairs of the
17craft tents for the Orion Fall Festival; he especially enjoyed
18antiquing and making numerous yard swings; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Arthur Carlson was preceded in death by his wife,
20Dolores; his parents; his brothers, Charles Carlson, and
21Richard Carlson; and his sisters, Emma Stevenson, and Vera

2    WHEREAS, Arthur Carlson is survived by his children,
3LaVerne A. (Penny) Carlson, and Joyce E. (Rick) Hepner; his
4grandchildren, Kristi (David) Chipman, and Sarah (Brian Allen)
5Hepner; his great-grandchildren, Jonathan Chipman, Andrew
6Chipman, Matthew Chipman, Oscar "Ozzie" Allen, and Simon Allen;
7and his half-sisters, Debra (Alan) Wright, and Melanie (Rick)
8Garrett; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Arthur "Ozzie" Frank Carlson, and extend our sincere
12condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
13him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Arthur Carlson as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
