SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gilbert E. Breckling of Silvis, who
4passed away on September 24, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gilbert Breckling was born in Davenport, Iowa to
6Walter and Marie (Cappaert) Breckling on October 19, 1934; he
7graduated from United Township High School in 1952; he was
8stationed in Korea while serving with the United States Army;
9he married Roberta Smith in East Moline on December 7, 1968;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Gilbert Breckling was a journeyman electrician,
12working throughout the Quad Cities, including with the John
13Deere Foundry; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Gilbert Breckling was a member of Calvary Church
15and their Healing Team; he was active with the Rock Island
16County Fair and was always there to help those in need; he was
17an avid fisherman, had a great sense of humor, and loved his
18family dearly; he was affectionately known as "Honest Gil"; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Gilbert Breckling was preceded in death by his
20parents; his children, Christopher Breckling, and Kari
21Copeland; and his brothers, Robert, Ronald, and Steve; and

1    WHEREAS, Gilbert Breckling is survived by his wife,
2Roberta; his children, Robert Breckling, Scott Breckling,
3Marty (Laurie) Breckling, Teri (Bill) Kaufman, Shari (Patrick)
4Gall, and Traci (Rick) Connor; 19 grandchildren; 19
5great-grandchildren; and his brother, Philip (Mary) Breckling;
6therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Gilbert E. Breckling, and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Gilbert Breckling as an expression
14of our deepest sympathy.
