SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John Frederick Schwegler of Rock Island,
4who passed away on October 1, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Schwegler was born on August 24, 1931 in Rock
6Island; his parents were Fred H. Schwegler and Susie A. Forgy
7Schwegler; he married Nancy Kathryn Knosher on July 3, 1960 in
8Champaign; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Schwegler was a lifelong resident of Rock
10Island and a 1949 graduate of Rock Island High School; after
11serving with the United States Army in Korea, he received
12industrial engineering degrees from the University of Illinois
13in 1958 and the University of Iowa in 1964; and
 
14    WHEREAS, After completing a machinist apprenticeship at
15Farmall Works of International Harvester, John Schwegler
16worked as a plant equipment designer; he later worked as an
17industrial engineer at the Rock Island Arsenal; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Schwegler was an active member of Two Rivers
19Church, where he sang in the Sanctuary Choir for 38 years and
20served in various leadership roles; he was a 60-year member of
21the Masonic Fraternity and served three terms as Master of Trio

1Lodge No. 57; and
 
2    WHEREAS, John Schwegler enjoyed singing, scale-modeling,
3aviation, and spending time with his family; and
 
4    WHEREAS, John Schwegler was preceded in death by his
5parents; his brother, Roy; his sister-in-law, Natalie; his
6niece, Paula; and his nephew, David; and
 
7    WHEREAS, John Schwegler is survived by his devoted wife of
856 years, Nancy; his sons, Thomas and William; his sister,
9Elizabeth; his nephews, Eric (Krista), Neil (Janet), and Brian
10(Jennifer) Mathis; his sister-in-law, Carol Mathis; his
11brother-in-law, Earl Knosher; three grandnieces; and four
12grandnephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
15family and friends, mourn the passing of John Frederick
16Schwegler; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of John Schwegler as an expression of
19our sympathy.
