SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert Lewis Depoorter of Moline, who passed away on August 29, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Robert Depoorter was born on November 18, 1932 in Moline; his parents were Joseph and Martha Depoorter; he married Nancy Ann Slover on December 29, 1956 at St. Anne Church in East Moline; and

WHEREAS, Robert Depoorter was a proud United States Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of American Legion Post 246 in Moline; and

WHEREAS, Robert Depoorter retired from the Teamsters as an independent truck driver after many years of service; and

WHEREAS, Robert Depoorter was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, which he attended regularly; and

WHEREAS, Robert Depoorter enjoyed spending time with his family, watching his son coach football, eating out, and bringing lawn mowers back from the dead; and

WHEREAS, Robert Depoorter was preceded in death by his siblings, Marie (Lloyd) Ratto, Toni Smith, Margaret (Bert) Kochuyt, Anne (Nyle) Wegener, Dorothy (Andrew) Saelens, Clara Jackson, Rose (Lee) Glaudel, George (Norva) Depoorter, Joe Depoorter, Lawrence Depoorter, Betty (Richard Liedke) (Larry) Shumaker, and (Robert) DeBlaey; and

WHEREAS, Robert Depoorter is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children, Todd (Jan) Depoorter, Kathryn (Joe) Swanson, Susan Taylor, Kent (Molly) Depoorter, Barry (Jean) Depoorter, Amy (Fernando) Rohwer, and Ann (Jared) Jordan; his grandchildren, Grace, Robert, Allie, Samantha, Jacob, John, Kevin, Elizabeth, Kayla, Erica, Katie (Nate), Ben, Kristy (Alex), Mallory (Troy), Ashley, Maggie, Samantha, Emma, Brad, Amanda (Matt), Joie, Corey (Rhonda), Jarrid, Sam, Brady, and Lucy; his great-grandchildren, Ianto, Lauren, Peyton, Brayden, Haddie, Gage, Rochelle, and Ryan; and his sisters, Theresa (Doug) Wilson and Julia DeBlaey; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Robert Lewis Depoorter; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Depoorter as an expression of our sympathy.
