SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Nick G. Padakis of Moline, who passed away on May 13, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Nick Padakis was born in Carbon Cliff to George and Mary (Soto) Padakis on April 30, 1922; he served in the United States Army during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Nick Padakis was employed at the former Seaford's Clothing Co. in Rock Island; he was also a crossing guard for more than 15 years; and

WHEREAS, Nick Padakis was affectionately known as "Uncle Nick" to many; and

WHEREAS, Nick Padakis was preceded in death by his sister, Consuelo Campos; his brother-in-law, Raymond Sr.; his brother, Frank Padakis; his nieces, Estelle (Sally) and Esther; his brother-in-law, "Uncle Smokey"; his great-nephew, Brad; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and

WHEREAS, Nick Padakis is survived by his special great-niece, Nicole Perez; his nieces and nephews, Gary and Dennis (Kathy); great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Nick G. Padakis, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Nick Padakis as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
