SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald J. Chopp; and

WHEREAS, Donald Chopp dedicated his life to his family and to causes he believed in, including Catholic education and community outreach; he served on school boards for St. Hugh, St. Cletus, and Nazareth Academy; and

WHEREAS, Donald Chopp belonged to Congregation of St. Joseph as an associate; he served as a Catholic minister of care; he also championed interfaith refugee resettlement through New Hope Connection; and

WHEREAS, Donald Chopp was the beloved husband of 55 years of Marylin (Tyce); the loving father of Catherine (James) Hinckley, Daniel (Maureen) Chopp, David Chopp, and Patricia (Arthur) Keegan; the loving grandfather of Claire, Danielle, Jack, John, Thomas, and Anna; the fond brother of Carol and Jean Chopp; and uncle and friend to many; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donald J. Chopp, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donald Chopp as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
