SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Harold Bixen, who passed away on July 5,
42016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harold Bixen was born in Bunker Hill to Alvin and
6Alma (Zarges) Bixen on July 18, 1934; he was raised by his
7grandparents, William and Mary Bixen, after the death of his
8mother when he was six months old; he served in the United
9States Army at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; he married Mary
10Aljets at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Dorsey on October 16, 1955;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Harold Bixen worked at Alton Boxboard (Jefferson
13Smurfit Corporation); and
 
14    WHEREAS, Harold Bixen was a volunteer fireman for the
15Dorsey Volunteer Fire Department; he was an active member of
16Emmaus Lutheran Church in Dorsey; he enjoyed travelling,
17camping, and spending time with his family; he and his son,
18John, enjoyed building and renovating houses together; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Harold Bixen was preceded in death by his parents;
20his son, Robert Bixen; his sister, Alice Spickerman; and his
21sister-in-law, Esther Hoffstetter; and

1    WHEREAS, Harold Bixen is survived by his wife of 60 years,
2Mary; his daughter, Janet (David) Francis; his son, John Bixen;
3his daughter-in-law, Kara Bixen; his grandson, Lukas Bixen; his
4granddaughter, Brittany (Steven) Ginn; his
5great-grandchildren, Avrie and Hudson Ginn; his sister,
6Dorothy Spickerman; his sisters-in-law, Marguerite Fechte and
7Ruth Kuethe; and his brother-in-law, Frederick (Verline)
8Aljets; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Harold Bixen, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
12friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Harold Bixen as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
