SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lucille "Lucy" Madsen, who passed away on June 5, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Lucille Madsen was born January 29, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York; her parents were William and Helen Martell; and

WHEREAS, As a teenager, Lucille Madsen's family relocated to Park Ridge, where she attended Main East High School; after graduating from Lake Forest College, she taught elementary school in Schiller Park before leaving to raise a family; she also obtained her Certificate in Pastoral Ministry at Dominican University and served as a chaplain at several hospitals; and

WHEREAS, Lucille Madsen donated much of her free time to helping others, including numerous church ministries at St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic Church, including Religious Education, Bereavement Minister, Bible Study, and Vacation Bible School; she also served as a hospital Eucharistic minister and assisted in an English as a Second Language program; and

WHEREAS, Lucille Madsen enjoyed attending daily Mass, cooking, gardening, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Lucille Madsen was preceded in death by her parents and her loving dogs, Corky and Simba; and

WHEREAS, Lucille Madsen is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Robert Madsen; her children, Robert (Patrick Zanone) Madsen, Christopher Madsen, Mary (Peter) Heskin, and David (Katy) Madsen; her grandchildren, Ryleigh and Sean Heskin and Ellie, Bennett, and Everett Madsen; her sister, Helen Sharp; and her sister and brothers-in-law, Madeleine and Pat Feldman, William and Madelyn Madsen, and Jerome and John Madsen; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Lucille "Lucy" Madsen; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lucille Madsen as an expression of our sympathy.
