SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lucille "Lucy" Madsen, who passed away on
4June 5, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lucille Madsen was born January 29, 1942 in
6Brooklyn, New York; her parents were William and Helen Martell;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, As a teenager, Lucille Madsen's family relocated
9to Park Ridge, where she attended Main East High School; after
10graduating from Lake Forest College, she taught elementary
11school in Schiller Park before leaving to raise a family; she
12also obtained her Certificate in Pastoral Ministry at Dominican
13University and served as a chaplain at several hospitals; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Lucille Madsen donated much of her free time to
15helping others, including numerous church ministries at St.
16Thomas of Villanova Catholic Church, including Religious
17Education, Bereavement Minister, Bible Study, and Vacation
18Bible School; she also served as a hospital Eucharistic
19minister and assisted in an English as a Second Language
20program; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Lucille Madsen enjoyed attending daily Mass,

1cooking, gardening, traveling, reading, and spending time with
2her family, especially her grandchildren; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Lucille Madsen was preceded in death by her
4parents and her loving dogs, Corky and Simba; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lucille Madsen is survived by her loving husband
6of 48 years, Robert Madsen; her children, Robert (Patrick
7Zanone) Madsen, Christopher Madsen, Mary (Peter) Heskin, and
8David (Katy) Madsen; her grandchildren, Ryleigh and Sean Heskin
9and Ellie, Bennett, and Everett Madsen; her sister, Helen
10Sharp; and her sister and brothers-in-law, Madeleine and Pat
11Feldman, William and Madelyn Madsen, and Jerome and John
12Madsen; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
15family and friends, mourn the passing of Lucille "Lucy" Madsen;
16and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Lucille Madsen as an expression of
19our sympathy.
