SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of George Crozier Kieffer of Rock Island; and

WHEREAS, George Kieffer was born on May 25, 1932 in Moline; his parents were George Crozier Kieffer, Sr. and Theola E. Ballou Kieffer; and

WHEREAS, George Kieffer was a proud alumnus of Audubon Grade School, Washington Junior High, and Rock Island High School (Class of 1950); he proudly served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1957; and

WHEREAS, George Kieffer was the owner of Artistic Improvement, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, George Kieffer had a love of the great outdoors all his life; he purchased a farm in Missouri, the Des Moines River Farm, in 1986; the farm was a hunting preserve and full of history; and

WHEREAS, George Kieffer enjoyed spending weekends, holidays, and especially the 4th of July and fireworks celebrations with his family; he enjoyed hunting for geodes and walking the creek for hours with his visitors and driving his mother on a four-wheeler around the farm; he was also a master decoy carver and wildlife painter; and

WHEREAS, George Kieffer was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Elizabeth Oliver; and his nephew, Matthew Scott Kieffer; and

WHEREAS, George Kieffer is survived by his wife, Marilyn Kieffer; his daughters, Lisa (Michael) Kieffer-Haverkamp and Lori Kieffer-Garrison (Matthew L. Garrison); his grandchildren, Rowan and Laurel Haverkamp and Atticus Garrison; his siblings, John (Meri) Kieffer and Anne Meyer; his nephews, Kevin Kieffer, Jason Kieffer, and Kirk (Kitty) C. Oliver; his grand-nephews, Daniel (Mary Kate) Oliver and Thomas C. Oliver; his grand-niece, Ruth Y. Oliver; and many other nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of George Crozier Kieffer; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of George Kieffer as an expression of our sympathy.
