SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert "Bob" Thompson of Colona, who passed away on June 24, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Robert Thompson was born on August 21, 1920 in Wapello, Iowa; his parents were Rodney and Myrtle Benson Thompson; he married Chrystal Mae Wykert on December 8, 1945 in East Moline; and

WHEREAS, Robert Thompson served in the United States Army during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Robert Thompson retired from the Experimental Department of International Harvester in 1982 after 37 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Robert Thompson was a charter member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Pleasant Valley, Iowa; and

WHEREAS, Robert Thompson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Chrystal Mae; his daughter, Deborah Lynn Thompson; his grandson, John Robert Haley; his sister, Betty Malcom; and his brother, Kenneth Thompson; and

WHEREAS, Robert Thompson is survived by his daughter, Dawn Haley; his sons, David (Melinda) Thompson and Daniel (Lori) Thompson; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his sister, Judy St. Clair; and his brother, William (Sharon) Thompson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Robert "Bob" Thompson; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Thompson as an expression of our sympathy.
