SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Roger A. Schumacher of rural Erie, who passed away on June 13, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Roger Schumacher was born on August 17, 1930 in Clinton, Iowa; his parents were Fred and Viola Rasmassen Schumacher; he first married Virginia Matthew and later married Dora Conchola; and

WHEREAS, Roger Schumacher served his country in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954 and was stationed in France; and

WHEREAS, Roger Schumacher was a lifelong farmer; he also worked for 30 years at International Harvester; and

WHEREAS, Roger Schumacher enjoyed building and flying airplanes; he was a member of the Erie Air Park; he also loved spending time on the river fishing and enjoying his houseboat in the summer months and spending his winters in Florida; and

WHEREAS, Roger Schumacher was preceded in death by his wife, Dora, and his sister, Delores DeGroot; and

WHEREAS, Roger Schumacher is survived by his daughter, Janice (James) Graszer; his brother, Dallas Schumacher; his special friend, Harriet Vrchoticky; his grandchildren, Jim (Chrissy) Graszer, Jr., Michael Graszer, and Christy Graszer; and his great-grandson, Xander Graszer; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Roger A. Schumacher; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Roger Schumacher as an expression of our sympathy.
