| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Sylvester A. "Sam" McCabe of Colona, who | 4 | | passed away on June 8, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Sylvester McCabe was born on March 23, 1935 in | 6 | | Cresco, Iowa; his parents were Benedict and Rose Lannen McCabe; | 7 | | he married Janice Reeder on January 4, 1958 in Decorah, Iowa; | 8 | | and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Sylvester McCabe served in the United States | 10 | | Marine Corps from 1954 to 1957; he was the recipient of the | 11 | | National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Sylvester McCabe worked at John Deere Harvester in | 13 | | East Moline, retiring after 35 years of service; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Sylvester McCabe served on the Colona City | 15 | | Council; he served as president and coach of Colona Little | 16 | | League and as president of the Colona School Board; he was also | 17 | | Cub Master for Cub Scouts and an active member of the Lions | 18 | | Club; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Sylvester McCabe was preceded in death by his | 20 | | parents and five siblings; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Sylvester McCabe is survived by his wife, Janice; | 2 | | his children, Kevin (Diana) McCabe, Jay (Bao) McCabe, Rick | 3 | | McCabe, and Kristen Crimmins; his grandchildren, James | 4 | | (Nicole) McCabe, Shelly Christensen, Mitchell (Sarah) McCabe, | 5 | | Brittany (Ben) Junis, and Danielle Patterson; and 12 | 6 | | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | 9 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Sylvester A. "Sam" | 10 | | McCabe; and be it further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of Sylvester McCabe as an expression of | 13 | | our sympathy.
