SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of LaVerne D. Jacobs of Erie, who passed away on June 11, 2016; and

WHEREAS, LaVerne Jacobs was born in Fenton to Edward and Ruby (Franks) Jacobs on January 20, 1926; he served his country in the United States Army during World War II; he married Elsie DeCap at St. Ambrose Church in Erie on April 23, 1949; and

WHEREAS, LaVerne Jacobs farmed for 20 years before moving into town and going to work for Erie Foods as a lab technician for 18 years; and

WHEREAS, LaVerne Jacobs was an active member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Erie and a past board member; he enjoyed gardening, fishing, and golfing; he was a former member at the Lake Erie Country Club; after retirement, he took up woodworking; and

WHEREAS, LaVerne Jacobs was preceded in death by his sisters, Clara Dillin and Mary Ann Possley, and his brothers, Edward, LeRoy, and Willard Jacobs; and

WHEREAS, LaVerne Jacobs is survived by his wife, Elsie; his children, Mark (Judy) Jacobs, Laura Burk, Allen (Wendy) Jacobs, and Scott (Lisa) Jacobs; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his sister, Loralie (Darrell) Morse; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of LaVerne D. Jacobs, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of LaVerne Jacobs as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
