SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Alphonso Joseph "Al" Castel Sr. of
4Moline, who passed away on May 26, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Alphonso Castel Sr. was born in Davenport, Iowa to
6Jesus and Sara Valdez Castel on April 20, 1924; he served in
7the United States Army during World War II and married Florence
8Ahrens in Davenport, Iowa in 1946; he later married Elizabeth
9Inman in Galesburg on October 17, 1982; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Alphonso Castel Sr. was employed at International
11Harvester Farmall Works in Rock Island for 36 years, retiring
12in 1982; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Alphonso Castel Sr. was a member of Christ The
14King Catholic Church and VFW Post #8890 in East Moline; he
15enjoyed bowling and boxing; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Alphonso Castel Sr. was preceded in death by his
17wife, Elizabeth, and his siblings, Jesse Castel, Teresa Alonzo,
18Cora Ahrens, and Petra Palos; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Alphonso Castel Sr. is survived by his children
20and their spouses, Diana Soliz, Ramona and Eric Gumban, Becky

1and David Navarro, Joseph Castel, Scott and Martina Castel, and
2Shane Castel; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three
3great-great-grandchildren; and his siblings and their spouses,
4Anne Montecino, Sarah and Peter Compos, and Raymond and Gay
5Castel; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Alphonso Joseph "Al" Castel Sr., and extend our sincere
9condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
10him; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Alphonso Castel Sr. as an expression
13of our deepest sympathy.
