SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Clarence R. "Chauncey" Powers of
4Seminole, Florida, formerly of Moline, who passed away on
5December 10, 2015; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Clarence Powers was born in Boone, Iowa to John
7and Elizabeth Kelly Powers on August 21, 1921; he graduated
8from Sacred Heart Grade and High School in Boone in 1939; he
9joined the Iowa National Guard in August of 1936 and the United
10States Army in February of 1941; he served during World War II
11and was discharged from the Army in June of 1945; he married
12Dorothy Youngvorst in Davenport, Iowa on October 17, 1949; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Clarence Powers joined the Illinois Bell
14Telephone Company in 1945 and worked at various locations in
15the State of Illinois for 37 years, retiring in 1982; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Clarence Powers' wife, Dorothy, passed away on
17December 12, 2015; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Clarence Powers was preceded in death by five
19sisters and two brothers; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Clarence Powers is survived by his sister, Shirley

1Ann Walker, and his nieces, Marcia Youngvorst, Lauren Gekas,
2and Sue (Gene) DuPont; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Clarence R. "Chauncey" Powers, and extend our sincere
6condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
7him; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Clarence Powers as an expression of
10our deepest sympathy.
