SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Verniece Lindsay, who passed away on May
414, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Verniece Lindsay was born in Halsell, Alabama to
6Chester and Sallie Oliver on May 1, 1947; her family moved to
7Chicago Heights and joined Union Evangelistic Baptist Church;
8she attended Governors State University, where she received a
9Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, a master's degree in
10education and a second master's degree in educational
11administration; she married Henry Lindsay; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Verniece Lindsay had a career as an educator in
13the Illinois Public School System, where she positively
14impacted students, parents, and co-workers; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Verniece Lindsay valued family and friends
16immensely and forged a special mother-son relationship with
17Terron Allen; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Verniece Lindsay was preceded in death by her
19parents and her sisters, Otis Mae Allen and Henrianna
20Allen-McGrew; and

1    WHEREAS, Verniece Lindsay is survived by her daughter,
2Stephania; her sons, Jimmie and Terron (Alvia); her brothers,
3Rufus (Marlene) and Arthur (Mary); her loving grandson, Steven
4(Devon); five great-grandchildren; her spiritual sisters,
5Willie, Abigail, and Arva; a devoted great-niece, Tia; and a
6host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Verniece Lindsay, and extend our sincere condolences to her
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Verniece Lindsay as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
