SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William A. Schultz, Jr. of Silvis, who
4passed away on April 26, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, William Schultz, Jr. was born in Philadelphia,
6Pennsylvania to William Arthur Schultz, Sr. and Gertrude Emma
7Mason on November 21, 1935; he was raised by his mother and
8stepfather, William Hancock, Sr.; he married Tempy Foster in
9Valparaiso, Florida on April 4, 1968; he later married Margie
10Carlson Weeks in Rock Island on February 14, 1981; and
 
11    WHEREAS, William Schultz, Jr. served in the United States
12Naval Reserve, the Marine Corps, and the Army before retiring
13from the Air Force; he served in the Korean and Vietnam wars
14and was awarded a Silver Star and a Purple Heart; he later
15worked as a cook and as a bartender for several area
16businesses, such as the Franciscan Hospital and Murphy's Bar,
17both in Rock Island; and
 
18    WHEREAS, William Schultz, Jr. enjoyed fishing, watching
19baseball and hockey, dancing, darts, bowling, collecting
20knives, reading James Patterson novels, and watching old
21Westerns on TV, especially John Wayne movies; and

1    WHEREAS, William Schultz, Jr. was preceded in death by his
2stepson, Mike Weeks, and his brothers, Pete and Butch Hancock;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, William Schultz, Jr. is survived by his loving
5wife of 35 years, Margie; his two sons, William A. Schultz and
6girlfriend, Bianca Vera, and Scott Schultz and fiancee, Brandy
7Dalessandro; his stepchildren, Steve and Lori Weeks, David and
8Julie Weeks, Pam and David Howe, and Lt. Col. Doug Weeks and
9Sheri; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and his
10siblings and their spouses, Diane and Dimtry Kosty, Ann
11Prochorenkos, Mary and Jerry Merklinger, and Ellen Mayer;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15William A. Schultz, Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to
16his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of William Schultz, Jr. as an
20expression of our deepest sympathy.
