SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gerald C. Bloomberg of Rock Island, who
4passed away on April 10, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gerald Bloomberg was born in Galesburg to Clarence
6A. and Jeanette E. Wongstrom Bloomberg on February 15, 1923; he
7served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II and
8married Edythe N. Petersen on October 21, 1950; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Gerald Bloomberg worked in the service department
10at Deere and Co. for many years, retiring in 1982; he was also
11employed by Augustana College for a time; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Gerald Bloomberg was a member of Trinity Lutheran
13Church in Moline; the Doric Lodge AF & AM in Moline; the
14Scottish Rite & Coordinate Bodies, Valley of Moline; the
15Independent Order of the Vikings in Moline; and American Legion
16Post 246; he was a former member of the Kaaba Shrine in
17Davenport, Iowa; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Gerald Bloomberg was preceded in death by his
19wife, Edythe; his parents; his sister, Janis Briggs; his
20brother, Wayne in infancy; and his nephews, Steven and Thomas
21Briggs; and

1    WHEREAS, Gerald Bloomberg is survived by his children,
2Lynne E. (Larry) Anderson and Terry L. Brown; his
3grandchildren, Kelley (Maurice) Arnold, Todd Brown, and Jenny
4Brown; and his great-grandchildren, Allyna, Landry, and Logan
5Arnold and Aiden, Mac Kinsy, and Karsen Brown; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Gerald C. Bloomberg, and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Gerald Bloomberg as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
