SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gerald C. Bloomberg of Rock Island, who passed away on April 10, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Bloomberg was born in Galesburg to Clarence A. and Jeanette E. Wongstrom Bloomberg on February 15, 1923; he served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II and married Edythe N. Petersen on October 21, 1950; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Bloomberg worked in the service department at Deere and Co. for many years, retiring in 1982; he was also employed by Augustana College for a time; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Bloomberg was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline; the Doric Lodge AF & AM in Moline; the Scottish Rite & Coordinate Bodies, Valley of Moline; the Independent Order of the Vikings in Moline; and American Legion Post 246; he was a former member of the Kaaba Shrine in Davenport, Iowa; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Bloomberg was preceded in death by his wife, Edythe; his parents; his sister, Janis Briggs; his brother, Wayne in infancy; and his nephews, Steven and Thomas Briggs; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Bloomberg is survived by his children, Lynne E. (Larry) Anderson and Terry L. Brown; his grandchildren, Kelley (Maurice) Arnold, Todd Brown, and Jenny Brown; and his great-grandchildren, Allyna, Landry, and Logan Arnold and Aiden, Mac Kinsy, and Karsen Brown; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Gerald C. Bloomberg, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gerald Bloomberg as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
