SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dr. Earl H. Clark of Rock Island and
4Moline, who passed away on April 11, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Earl Clark was born on December 21, 1920 in
6Beloit, Kansas; his parents were Earl Howard and Bess Prose
7Clark; he married Janet Goodjohn on December 20, 1947; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Dr. Earl Clark spent his childhood in Hoisington,
9Kansas and received his undergraduate and medical degrees from
10the University of Kansas; during World War II, he served as a
11lieutenant junior grade in the Naval Reserve and a medical
12officer with the 1st Marine Division in northern China; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Following the completion of his medical residency
14in 1951, Dr. Earl Clark joined Dr. John P. Burgess in the
15practice of pediatrics in Rock Island; he was later joined by
16Dr. Earl M. Stockdale, with whom he practiced for 30 years;
17they were joined by Dr. Christopher Moen and Dr. Thomas Herr,
18current senior members of Pediatric Group Associates; he
19retired from pediatric practice on January 1, 1987; his
20dedication to the practice of medicine was honored when he was
21chosen as King of Mardi Gras in 1983; and

1    WHEREAS, Dr. Earl Clark was certified by the American Board
2of Pediatrics and was a member of the American Academy of
3Pediatrics; he was a member of the American Medical Association
4and the Illinois State Medical Association and a member and
5president of the Rock Island County Medical Association; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dr. Earl Clark and his wife were members of the
7Broadway Presbyterian Church for over 50 years; he served as a
8deacon and elder; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dr. Earl Clark enjoyed spending time with his
10friends and family, traveling, gardening, golf, reading, and
11dining; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Earl Clark was preceded in death by his wife,
13Janet; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Dr. Earl Clark is survived by his sons and
15daughters-in-law, John and Kathleen Clark and Howard and Jane
16Clark; his daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Timothy Patton; his
17grandchildren, John (Hemma) Clark, Mary (Ben) Dunlap, Annie
18(Matthew) Arnett, David Clark, Lucy Clark, Dr. Simon (Grace)
19Patton, Mary (Andrew) Lesh, Elizabeth (Francis) Defilippis,
20Andrew (Becca) Patton, and Paul Patton; his 15
21great-grandchildren; his nephew, P. Bartlett (Kathryn) Wu; and
22his great-nephew, Peter B. Wu; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
3family and friends, mourn the passing of Dr. Earl H. Clark; and
4be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of Dr. Earl Clark as an expression of
7our sympathy.
