SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Roland Gross of East Moline, who passed away on April 3, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Roland Gross was born in Davenport, Iowa to Albert and Mary Schmeil Gross on September 26, 1933; he served as a Corporal in the United States Army from June of 1953 until May of 1955; he married Marcella Theresa Stuttgen in Minneapolis, Minnesota on November 30, 1957; and

WHEREAS, Roland Gross worked as a truck driver for ABF Freight; and

WHEREAS, Roland Gross was a member of the Teamsters Union and the American Legion; he loved telling stories and jokes, westerns, and casino bus trips; he especially loved spending time with his family and seeing his grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Roland Gross was preceded in death by his parents and his sister; and

WHEREAS, Roland Gross is survived by his loving wife, Marcella; his sons, Scott (Mai Anh) Gross, Brad (Joni) Gross, and Rod (Elaine) Gross; his daughters, Terri Warden and Roxanne (Randy) Bogs; his 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and his daughter-in-law, Diana; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Roland Gross, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Roland Gross as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
