| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Edward M. "Ed" Mitchell of Moline, who | 4 | | passed away on April 9, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Edward Mitchell was born in Saunemin to Jesse F. | 6 | | and Daisy E. Bennett Mitchell on May 12, 1924; he served in the | 7 | | United States Army during World War II, achieving the rank of | 8 | | Sergeant; he married Lois T. Terpening in Bloomington on August | 9 | | 29, 1946; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Edward Mitchell worked as a teacher for his entire | 11 | | career; he taught one year in the Saybrook school system, eight | 12 | | years at the former Reynolds High School, and 34 years with the | 13 | | Moline School District, retiring in 1991; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, After retirement, Edward Mitchell was involved | 15 | | with various retiree organizations, including RTO (Black Hawk | 16 | | Retired Teachers Organization), the Retired and Senior | 17 | | Volunteer Program, and the AARP; he was a member of First | 18 | | Lutheran Church in Moline; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Edward Mitchell was preceded in death by his wife, | 20 | | Lois; his parents; his brothers, Merritte and Wayne; and his | 21 | | nephew, Keith; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Edward Mitchell is survived by his beloved dog, | 2 | | Daisy; his nieces and nephews, Frances Mitchell, Norma (Ned) | 3 | | Fredrickson, Paul (Kay) Terpening, and Beth (Jim) Nyland; and | 4 | | many great-nieces and great-nephews; therefore, be it
| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 6 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 7 | | Edward M. "Ed" Mitchell, and extend our sincere condolences to | 8 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 9 | | further
| 10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 | | presented to the family of Edward Mitchell as an expression of | 12 | | our deepest sympathy.
