SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Marvin "Marv" Johnston of East Moline,
4who passed away on April 2, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marvin Johnston was born on December 18, 1946 in
6Moline; his parents were George and Mary Helen Stone Johnston;
7he married Pearl Ackerland on March 14, 1970 in Milan; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Marvin Johnston served in the United States Navy
9during the Vietnam Conflict; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Marvin Johnston retired from John Deere Harvester
11in East Moline after 35 years of service; he also owned and
12operated Marv's Lock Service for 38 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Marvin Johnston was preceded in death by his
14father; his step-granddaughter, Amanda M. Mahar; and his
15mother-in-law, Alice Mabie; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Marvin Johnston is survived by his wife, Pearl
17Johnston; his son, Matthew (Amanda) Johnston; his
18stepdaughter, Suzanne R. Niner; his stepsons, Greg A. (Barbara)
19Ackerland, Scott A. (Jamie) Ackerland, and Brett M. Ackerland;
20his 17 grandchildren; his 16 great-grandchildren; his mother;

1his sisters, Shirley (Richard) Bideaux, Carol Wiemer, Peggy J.
2Babcock, and Nancy Bobb; and his good friends, Robin Ackerland,
3Gary Sullivan, and Franz Kauer; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
6family and friends, mourn the passing of Marvin "Marv"
7Johnston; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Marvin Johnston as an expression of
10our sympathy.
