SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marvin "Marv" Johnston of East Moline, who passed away on April 2, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Johnston was born on December 18, 1946 in Moline; his parents were George and Mary Helen Stone Johnston; he married Pearl Ackerland on March 14, 1970 in Milan; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Johnston served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Johnston retired from John Deere Harvester in East Moline after 35 years of service; he also owned and operated Marv's Lock Service for 38 years; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Johnston was preceded in death by his father; his step-granddaughter, Amanda M. Mahar; and his mother-in-law, Alice Mabie; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Johnston is survived by his wife, Pearl Johnston; his son, Matthew (Amanda) Johnston; his stepdaughter, Suzanne R. Niner; his stepsons, Greg A. (Barbara) Ackerland, Scott A. (Jamie) Ackerland, and Brett M. Ackerland; his 17 grandchildren; his 16 great-grandchildren; his mother; his sisters, Shirley (Richard) Bideaux, Carol Wiemer, Peggy J. Babcock, and Nancy Bobb; and his good friends, Robin Ackerland, Gary Sullivan, and Franz Kauer; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Marvin "Marv" Johnston; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marvin Johnston as an expression of our sympathy.
