SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles Richard "Charlie" Barr of Thomasboro, who passed away on March 8, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Charles Barr was born in Gibson City to George and Ruth (Higgins) Barr on December 21, 1931; he graduated from Drummer Township High School in 1950 and served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954; he married Ruby Swarm in Gibson City on May 9, 1952; and

WHEREAS, Charles Barr worked in the print shop for the Gibson City Courier for many years; he later retired from the Carle Print Shop; he served on the Thomasboro Village Board for 12 years; and

WHEREAS, Charles Barr was a founding member of the Thomasboro Improvement Association; he was also a member of the Fisher AMVETS; he loved to go fishing, and in his younger days, he was an avid hunter; and

WHEREAS, Charles Barr was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby; his parents; his two sisters; his son, Stephen; and his grandson, Kristoffer; and

WHEREAS, Charles Barr is survived by his son, Michael D. (Karen) Barr; his two grandchildren, Brad (Patti Herges) Barr and Katie (Blake) Giles; his two step-grandsons, James Reed and Jon Reed; and his longtime companion, Laura Wooters; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charles Richard "Charlie" Barr, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles Barr as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
