SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Roy W. Giacomelli of Ladd, who passed away on March 23, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Roy Giacomelli was born at home in Ladd to Jerome and Pearl (Muratori) Giacomelli on December 5, 1924; he served with the United States Army Air Corps and married Edna Meyer on June 7, 1951; and

WHEREAS, Roy Giacomelli worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for more than 36 years, retiring in 1984; and

WHEREAS, Roy Giacomelli was a member of the Ladd Fire Department, the Ladd American Legion, the Spring Valley Knights of Columbus, St. Benedicts Church, and the Bureau County Republican Central Committee for more than 60 years; his greatest joy was his family; and

WHEREAS, Roy Giacomelli was preceded in death by his wife, Edna; his two sisters, Bertha Giacomelli and Genevieve Jane; and his three brothers, Geno, Ado, and Ronald Giacomelli; and

WHEREAS, Roy Giacomelli is survived by his daughter, Lynne (Richard) Ouellette; his two sons, Roy Giacomelli Jr. and Gary (Cristine) Giacomelli; and his five grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Roy W. Giacomelli, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Roy Giacomelli as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
