SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert Dale Sherman, Sr. of Gillespie, who passed away on March 28, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Robert Sherman, Sr. was born on September 16, 1951 in Litchfield; his parents were Roy S. "Sadie" Sherman and Dorothy Sherman; he married Betty Enrici on September 16, 1972 in Gillespie; and

WHEREAS, Robert Sherman, Sr. was a graduate of Gillespie High School with the Class of 1970 and a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 217; and

WHEREAS, Robert Sherman, Sr. and his brother Roy were the owners and operators of the Superbowl of Gillespie, which was started by their parents in 1959; and

WHEREAS, Robert Sherman, Sr. was a member of the Army National Guard of Litchfield and the Air National Guard of Springfield for 24 1/2 years; and

WHEREAS, Robert Sherman, Sr. was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, Robert Sherman, Sr. was preceded in death by his father; and

WHEREAS, Robert Sherman, Sr. is survived by his mother; his wife, Betty Sherman; his sons, Robert (Elise) Sherman and Brian (Dominique) Sherman; his grandson, Brock Sherman; and his brother, Roy (Vicki) Sherman; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Robert Dale Sherman, Sr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Sherman, Sr. as an expression of our sympathy.
