SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Roy E. McGuire of Rock Island, who passed away on March 19, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Roy McGuire was born in East Moline to Roy E. and Rose Hinsberger McGuire on November 24, 1926; he graduated from Rock Island High School in 1945 and served in the United States Army; he then worked for two years at the International Harvester Corp. Farmall plant before enlisting in the United States Air Force and serving during the Korean Conflict; he attended Augustana College and graduated from Black Hawk College with an Associate of Arts; he married Jacquelyn Porter in Rock Island on May 30, 1953; and

WHEREAS, Roy McGuire joined the Rock Island Police Department on April 1, 1952, serving as a Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Acting Chief of Police; he retired as Chief of Detectives on November 28, 1977; he later served as a supervisor with the Street Department; he graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Academy in 1969 at the White House in Washington, D.C.; and

WHEREAS, Roy McGuire was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rock Island, Moline American Legion Post 246, Rock Island Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1303, the FBI National Academy Association - Illinois Chapter, Illinois Police Association Division 6, Allouez Council 658 Knights of Columbus, the Father Edward J. Bader Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, the Travelers Protective Association of America, and Rock Island Family Campers; and

WHEREAS, Roy McGuire was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Debra J. McCallister; his sisters, Mary Ann Kite and Donna Howell; and his brothers, Jerald "Jerry" McGuire and Michael Kenneth McGuire; and

WHEREAS, Roy McGuire is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn; his daughters, Chris (Dan) Malone and Mary Kay McGuire (Ronald Foutch); his sons, Michael "Mickey" McGuire, Patrick (Karen) McGuire, Mark McGuire, and Matthew McGuire; his son-in-law, Lionel McCallister; his 22 grandchildren; his 22 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Betty Thomas; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Roy E. McGuire, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Roy McGuire as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
