SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Thomas L. Oeffling; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Thomas Oeffling was born on December 30, 1937 in
5Johnsburg; his parents were Alfred and Marie Oeffling; he
6married Andrea Brennan on February 17, 1962, at St. John the
7Baptist Church in Johnsburg; and
 
8    WHEREAS, After high school, Thomas Oeffling served our
9country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps for two
10years; he was stationed at Twentynine Palms in California; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Thomas Oeffling was a lifelong resident of
12Johnsburg and a member of St. John the Baptist Church; he
13served on the District 12 Board of Education and was the coach
14of several Little League and St. John's basketball teams; he
15also served as secretary of the Johnsburg Community Club and as
16ticket captain for Johnsburg Old Timers; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Thomas Oeffling was a union carpenter at Joseph
18Frett and Son for 45 years; after retirement, he enjoyed
19spending winters in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where he golfed
20and relaxed with his friends; and

1    WHEREAS, Thomas Oeffling enjoyed playing Monday night golf
2with his close friends; he was a fan of all sports, but
3particularly baseball, and was a devoted Cubs fan his entire
4life; he was also a member of the renowned Johnsburg Tigers and
5played softball for Hettermann's Tavern; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Thomas Oeffling was preceded in death by his
7parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Kathryn
8Brennan; his brothers-in-law, Edward Tonyan and Gerard
9Brennan; and his sister-in-law, Moira McDonough; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Thomas Oeffling is survived by his wife of 54
11years, Andy Oeffling; his children, Elizabeth "Beth" (John)
12Gerritsen, Laura (Patty Mitchell) Oeffling, and Tom (Megan)
13Oeffling; his grandchildren, John, Jeff, and Joe Gerritsen,
14Kate Mitchell, and Tommy, Wynne, and Maura Oeffling; his
15siblings, Janice Tonyan, Ardelle (Ron) Conway, Bill (Debbie)
16Oeffling, Phil (Linda) Oeffling, and Julie (Bill) Ledger; his
17brothers-in-law, Jim McDonough and Robert (Judy) Brennan; his
18sisters-in-law, Pat Brennan and Ellen Brennan; and his many
19cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
22family and friends, mourn the passing of Thomas L. Oeffling;
23and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2presented to the family of Thomas Oeffling as an expression of
3our sympathy.
