SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert W. Johnson of Cordova, who passed away on March 7, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Robert Johnson was born on January 1, 1929 in Moline; his parents were Walter and Amy Johnson; he married Diana L. Hamor on December 31, 1950 in Moline; and

WHEREAS, Robert Johnson was a graduate of Moline High School; and

WHEREAS, Robert Johnson served in the United States Army during the Korean War in the 399th Ordinance Battalion; and

WHEREAS, Robert Johnson was a Moline firefighter for ten years before going to work for John Deere Harvester as a product engineer, where he retired in 1987 after 27 1/2 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Robert Johnson was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline, the Rock Island Conservation Club, and the Thor Lodge #9 Independent Order of Vikings in Moline; and

WHEREAS, Robert Johnson enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing, hunting, his place on the river, and spending time with his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Robert Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Diana; and

WHEREAS, Robert Johnson is survived by his children, Mike (Donna) Johnson, Douglas Johnson, Pam McDermott, and Deborah (William) O'Brien; his grandchildren, Tiffany (Josh) Basala, Tatum (Mike) Griffin, Chad (Sarah) Johnson, Sam McDermott, Max McDermott, Chelsea Johnson, Wyatt Johnson, Ava Johnson, Kailyn Green, and Connor Green; and his great-grandchildren, Bailey, Brody, Calvin, Nolan, Addy, and Myah; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Robert W. Johnson; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Johnson as an expression of our sympathy.
