SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert L. Burger of Geneva, who passed away on February 17, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Robert Burger was born in Chicago on April 4, 1933 to Francis and Imogene Burger; he graduated from St. Charles High School in 1951, where he lettered in basketball, baseball, and football; he attended the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy, earning his Bachelor of Science in 1955; he served in the United States Army Medical Service in January of 1956; and

WHEREAS, Robert Burger worked at Burger Drugs; and

WHEREAS, Robert Burger was an active member of St. Patrick Church and School in St. Charles, where he served as athletic director, and coached basketball for 25 years; he also served 6 years with the St. Charles Park District, and dedicated 20 years to St. Charles boys basketball; and

WHEREAS, Robert Burger was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Robert Burger is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marla; his children, Robyn (Greg) Gola, Maureen (Fattah) Sabir, Mark (Karen), and Megan White; his grandchildren, Taylor and Samantha Gola, Molly and Maggie Burger, Weston White, and Leila Sabir; and his 2 nieces, Nicole (Guy) Pleasant and Tara Machura; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert L. Burger, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Burger as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
