SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Stephen M. Walrack of Spring Grove, who passed away on January 26, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Walrack was born on May 29, 1941 in Lewistown, Montana; his parents were Dewey and Helen (nee Mikich) Walrack; he grew up on a farm in Wisconsin and was a graduate of Blanchardville High School; he moved to Illinois a couple of years later and was drafted into the United States Army in 1963; he spent 2 years in Germany and attained the rank of Medic/Specialist E-5; and

WHEREAS, After his discharge, Stephen Walrack settled in Buffalo Grove, where he worked as a printer and became a firefighter with the Skokie Fire Department; he retired from the fire department after 19 years and worked as a printer full-time until retiring in 2002; he then moved to Spring Grove, where he thoroughly enjoyed working in his yard and helping neighbors beautify their yards; he also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and watching sports, particularly the Packers; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Walrack was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Stanley and Matthew; his grandson, Parker; and his niece, Sandi; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Walrack is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jean; his children, Michael Walrack, Michael Wolfsmith, William Wolfsmith, and Mary Ellen (Jeffrey) Sullivan; his grandchildren, Alex, Alyssa, Michael, Briana, Caitlin, Sean, and Summer; his great-grandchildren, Troy and Owen; his siblings, Gloria (the late Vince) Mastandrea, Keith (Sylvia) Walrack, and Kathryn Diamond; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Stephen M. Walrack; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Stephen Walrack as an expression of our sympathy.
