SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Roger David Nordstrom of Moline, who
4passed away on February 14, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Roger Nordstrom was born in Moline to David and
6Florence Otterdahl Nordstrom on April 5, 1930; he graduated
7from Moline High School as Senior Class President in 1948 and
8from Augustana College in 1952, where he sang in the choir; he
9served for 2 years in the United States Army during the Korean
10Conflict; he married Janice Helen Liljegren in Moline on April
1120, 1957; and
 
12    WHEREAS, After returning from the service, Roger Nordstrom
13began working for Deere Harvester Works, retiring after 30
14years from the Product Engineering Department; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Roger Nordstrom was a lifelong member of First
16Covenant Church, where he held many leadership roles and sang
17in the church choir for more than 53 years; he enjoyed
18gardening, traveling, caring for others, and above all, was
19devoted to God and his family; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Roger Nordstrom was preceded in death by his
21parents and his sister, Virginia Havener; and

1    WHEREAS, Roger Nordstrom is survived by his loving wife,
2Janice; his sons, Chuck (Therese) Nordstrom, Brad Nordstrom,
3and Greg (Lara) Nordstrom; his grandchildren, Elizabeth
4(Charles) Stineford, Jen (Sergio Gomez) Nordstrom, Matt
5Nordstrom, Benjamin Nordstrom, Jonathan Nordstrom, and
6Christian Nordstrom; his sister, Rosemary (Glen) Soderstrom;
7and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Roger David Nordstrom, and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Roger Nordstrom as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
