SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lee Ambrose Cope of East Moline, who
4passed away on December 30, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lee Cope was born on September 6, 1929 in Verdan,
6Oklahoma; his parents were Horace and Ruby Young Cope; he
7married Anna Welsch in 1950 in East Moline; she passed away on
8October 9, 2011; he married Helen Bowers on January 31, 2012 in
9Rock Island; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Lee Cope served in the United States Merchant
11Marine at the age of 14 and served in the United States Army
12during the Korean War; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Lee Cope held many jobs as a cement finisher in
14the Quad Cities and Rockford; he enjoyed fishing, traveling,
15and playing Santa to the neighborhood kids; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Lee Cope was preceded in death by his brother,
17Marvin; his stepdaughter, Tina Anderson; and his stepson, Randy
18Hood; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Lee Cope is survived by his wife, Helen; his son,
20Phillip Cope; his stepchildren, Ronald Finley, Gina and Mike

1Hayes, and Rusty and Teresa Hood; his grandchildren, Nicki,
2Christina, and Michael; his great-grandchildren, Macey and
3Jenna; and his many step-grandchildren and
4step-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
7family and friends, mourn the passing of Lee Ambrose Cope; and
8be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Lee Cope as an expression of our
11sympathy.
