SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lee Ambrose Cope of East Moline, who passed away on December 30, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Lee Cope was born on September 6, 1929 in Verdan, Oklahoma; his parents were Horace and Ruby Young Cope; he married Anna Welsch in 1950 in East Moline; she passed away on October 9, 2011; he married Helen Bowers on January 31, 2012 in Rock Island; and

WHEREAS, Lee Cope served in the United States Merchant Marine at the age of 14 and served in the United States Army during the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, Lee Cope held many jobs as a cement finisher in the Quad Cities and Rockford; he enjoyed fishing, traveling, and playing Santa to the neighborhood kids; and

WHEREAS, Lee Cope was preceded in death by his brother, Marvin; his stepdaughter, Tina Anderson; and his stepson, Randy Hood; and

WHEREAS, Lee Cope is survived by his wife, Helen; his son, Phillip Cope; his stepchildren, Ronald Finley, Gina and Mike Hayes, and Rusty and Teresa Hood; his grandchildren, Nicki, Christina, and Michael; his great-grandchildren, Macey and Jenna; and his many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Lee Ambrose Cope; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lee Cope as an expression of our sympathy.
