SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Billie L. Hines, Sr. of East Moline, who passed away on December 25, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Billie Hines, Sr. was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on March 31, 1928 to Carl and Bloosom Palmer Hines; he served in the United States Army during World War II and married Carol J. Smith in Arkansas on July 1, 1950; and

WHEREAS, Billie Hines, Sr. retired from Case International Harvester in East Moline in 1993; and

WHEREAS, Billie Hines, Sr. had a special place in his heart for his niece, Jacque Knapp, with whom he conversed daily; for the last year and a half, Betty Brown, whom he dearly loved, had been a bright spot in his life and had not left his side since they met; she devoted herself to his care and the care of his beloved dog, Jazzy; and

WHEREAS, Billie Hines, Sr. was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Carol; his parents; his sister, Carol Lorimer; and his special friend, Donna Schick, whose daughter, Colleen Scholz, became like a daughter to him; and

WHEREAS, Billie Hines, Sr. is survived by his children, Billie Hines, Jr., Gregory Hines, Karen (Mark) Martin, and Jeffrey Hines; his 9 grandchildren; his 17 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Gary (Ann) Hines and Lynda (Jim) Uleman; many nieces and nephews; and numerous friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Billie L. Hines, Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Billie Hines, Sr. as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
