SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert L. Murphy of Moline, who passed
4away on January 7, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Murphy was born on December 29, 1927 in
6Peoria to Francis and Catherine "Colleen" (nee Farrell) Murphy;
7he married Marjorie C. Martensen on August 15, 1947 in Rock
8Island; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Robert Murphy was a United States Army veteran;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Robert Murphy worked throughout his life for the
12Bituminous Causality Corporation in Rock Island, where he
13retired as Senior Vice President of Insurance Operations; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Robert Murphy was a member of the Church of Peace
15in Rock Island, where he served on the church council, a former
16member of Pinnacle Country Club, a former board member of the
17National Advertising Council, and served on the Rock Island
18Downtown Business Association; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Robert Murphy enjoyed golfing and traveling,
20especially a trip to Ireland with his wife; and

1    WHEREAS, Robert Murphy was preceded in death by his
2brother, Stephen; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Robert Murphy is survived by his wife of 68 years,
4Marjorie; his sons, Daniel (Ann) Murphy and John Murphy (Cara
5Finnegan); his grandchildren, Molly Winters and Michael and
6Samuel Murphy; his great-grandson, Killian Murphy; and his
7sisters-in-law, Jeanette Lemon, Frances Murphy, and Carolyn
8Martensen; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
11family and friends, mourn the passing of Robert L. Murphy; and
12be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Robert Murphy as an expression of
15our sympathy.
