SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Harold Axel "Hal" Markuson III of Panama City, Florida, who passed away on January 2, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Harold Markuson was born in Moline on July 2, 1942 to Harold Axel and Marguerite S.M. (nee Clark) Markuson II; he graduated from Moline High School in 1960; and

WHEREAS, Harold Markuson served in the United States Air Force for over 22 years as a photographer; upon retirement, he continued his service as superintendent of the Rock Island County Veteran Assistance Commission for more than 18 years; and

WHEREAS, Harold Markuson was a member of Parker United Methodist Church and Calvary Lutheran Church of Moline, where he completed its Diakonia program; he also loved camping and was a camp host for 3 seasons with the KOA campground in Fort Collins, Colorado and one season with Light Train & RV Park in Silver Hill, Alabama; and

WHEREAS, Harold Markuson married Siri on February 17, 1996; they moved to Panama City, Florida in 2014; and

WHEREAS, Harold Markuson was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Hilding "Toby" Markuson; and

WHEREAS, Harold Markuson is survived by his wife, Siri; his son, Scott A. (Kalysha) Markuson; his daughters, Marlana (Joe) Richardson and Darcie (Mac) Moffitt; and his 6 grandchildren, Sagemond, Keegan, Gabriel, Benjamin, Rebecca, and Jaxson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Harold Axel "Hal" Markuson III, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Harold Markuson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
