SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Virgil Max Bennett of Rock Island, who passed away on January 6, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Virgil Bennett was born on November 1, 1927 in Mechanicsville, Iowa to Carl T. and Winnifred H. Lenahan Bennett; he married Patricia L. Moortel on January 31, 1953 in Rock Island; and

WHEREAS, After college, Virgil Bennett served in the United States Army Air Corps; he was later employed at the Rock Island Arsenal for 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Virgil Bennett was a member of the Black Hawk Shrine Club, Hi-Twelve, the Moline Breakfast Optimist Club, the Royal Order of Jesters, C.R.A.B.S., and a 60-year member of the Lindsay Park Yacht Club; and

WHEREAS, Virgil Bennett enjoyed boating with his family and friends and spending many winters in Arizona; and

WHEREAS, Virgil Bennett was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Bennett; and

WHEREAS, Virgil Bennett is survived by his wife, Patricia; his daughter, Mary Jane (Thomas) Newenham; and his granddaughter, Alexandra Newenham; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Virgil Max Bennett; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Virgil Bennett as an expression of our sympathy.
