SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lyndal L. Herschelman of Carlinville, who passed away on January 19, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Lyndal Herschelman was born in Litchfield to Harold and Lora Lee (nee Corlew) Herschelman on July 2, 1942; he graduated from Carlinville High School in 1960 and married Mary Rosentreter in Carlinville at Ss. Mary & Joseph Catholic Church on July 29, 1961; and

WHEREAS, Lyndal Herschelman worked for AT&T for 13 years before returning to Carlinville to help run the family farm; he retired in 2012 from Drew Ford in Gillespie after working for several area car dealerships; and

WHEREAS, Lyndal Herschelman was a member of Ss. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville and the Carlinville Elk's Lodge #1412, where he served as the Exalted Ruler in 1984 and District Governor in 1992; he served as the Chairman of the Elk's National Foundation and bowled on the Elk's bowling league, participating in several State and national bowling tournaments; he also served as a board member on the Macoupin County Board; and

WHEREAS, Lyndal Herschelman enjoyed relaxing and spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks with his family; and

WHEREAS, Lyndal Herschelman was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Amy Herschelman; his grandson, Nicholas Groves; and his brother, Harry Herschelman; and

WHEREAS, Lyndal Herschelman is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary; his son, Steve Herschelman; his daughter, Kathy (Bill) Groves; his 4 grandchildren, Jennifer (Don) Allison, Cody Kay, Marcus Herschelman, and Austin Groves; his 2 great-grandchildren; his brother, Fred (Phyllis) Herschelman; his sister-in-law, Mary Herschelman; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lyndal L. Herschelman, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lyndal Herschelman as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
