SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Warren L. Dixon, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Warren Dixon, Jr. was born on August 21, 1946 and grew up in Aurora, where he graduated from Marmion Academy; and

WHEREAS, Warren Dixon, Jr. served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War; and

WHEREAS, Warren Dixon, Jr. attended Southern Illinois University and North Central College; after college, he entered the real estate industry, following his parents' footsteps as a broker for the family business Dixon Realty; in the 1970s, he founded Dixon Appraisal; and

WHEREAS, In 1976, Warren Dixon, Jr. was hired as a commercial fee appraiser for Naperville Township; 8 years later, he ran for the elected position of Township Assessor and won, taking the seat in 1985; he would remain as Township Assessor until his son took office in 2013; and

WHEREAS, Warren Dixon, Jr. served as coach for the Naperville Knights Youth Football program; and

WHEREAS, Warren Dixon, Jr. enjoyed playing golf and cheering on the Notre Dame football team with his wife of 42 years, Katie, whom he met at a Notre Dame football game; and

WHEREAS, Warren Dixon, Jr. is survived by 3 children and 5 grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Warren L. Dixon, Jr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Warren Dixon, Jr. as an expression of our sympathy.
