SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Nicholas S. "Nick" Howard of Trilla, who passed away on December 24, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Nicholas Howard was born on October 14, 1929 in Tompkinsville, Kentucky; his parents were Cass and Lillie (nee Brown) Howard; he married Wanda J. Strader on April 15, 1950 in Mattoon; and

WHEREAS, Nicholas Howard retired from the Blaw-Knox Manufacturing Company of Mattoon after 35 years of service; he was also a former employee of the Brown Shoe Company in Mattoon and the New York Central Railroad; and

WHEREAS, Nicholas Howard was a member of the Buck Grove Community Church of rural Mattoon and a member of the Wabash Masonic Lodge #179 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge; and

WHEREAS, Nicholas Howard enjoyed being with his family and friends, the outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting; and

WHEREAS, Nicholas Howard was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Ivan and Charles L. Howard; and

WHEREAS, Nicholas Howard is survived by his wife, Wanda; his son, Terry (Johnna) Howard; his daughter, Debra (Pastor Mitch) Ramey; his sisters, Vida Croft and Zada Jackson; his 6 grandchildren; and his 5 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Nicholas S. "Nick" Howard; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Nicholas Howard as an expression of our sympathy.
