SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John Dokas of East Moline, who passed away on November 26, 2015; and

WHEREAS, John Dokas was born in East Moline on June 30, 1924 to James P. and Lola White; he served in the United States Navy during World War II and married Dorothy Summitt on May 22, 1944 in Ottumwa, Iowa; and

WHEREAS, John Dokas retired from John Deere Harvester in East Moline in 1984 after 25 years of service; and

WHEREAS, John Dokas enjoyed playing racquetball, playing it well into his mid-80s; he was also a Bible teacher; and

WHEREAS, John Dokas was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; and his brother, Pete Dokas; and

WHEREAS, John Dokas is survived by his daughter, Marsha (Charles) Durden; his son, James (LuAnn) Dokas; his grandchildren, Clara Lynn (Tim) Hemphill, Rebecca (Jeremy) Barr, Christa Dokas, and Elizabeth (Jesse) Cochrane; his great-grandchildren, Jordan Peters, Carly Barr, and Addison Hemphill; and a great-grandson due in March; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John Dokas, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Dokas as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
