SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Quint L. Sherwood of Champaign, who passed away on November 12, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood was born on November 22, 1928 in Canton; his parents were Clarence and Mary Smith Sherwood; he married Arlene Sherwood on June 29, 1986 in Champaign; and

WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood served in the United States Air Force for 4 years during the Korean Conflict, with one year at Thule Air Force Base in Greenland above the Arctic Circle; and

WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood served as a journeyman electrician and an electronic technician for 50 years for many companies, including the Ohio barge lines' Illinois River division in the late 1940s; he was the owner and operator of Electrical Technician Service in Rantoul into the mid-1960s; he was an engineering technician for the C.S. Johnson Company in Champaign and traveled around the world during the 1970s installing mass-pour concrete plants for highway and dam projects; he also worked as a maintenance electrician for General Motors for many years until his retirement in 1986; and

WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Champaign in Savoy; he was also a member of the Champaign Radio Control Club, International Toastmasters, and the Boy Scouts of America's Northern District Arrow Head Council, where he served as district chairman in the early 1960s; and

WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood enjoyed hunting, bowling, golf, building and flying radio-controlled airplanes, and spending time at Panera Bread with his friends; and

WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene, and his half-brother, Harold Nibbling; and

WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood is survived by his sons, Lou (Sue) Sherwood and Don Sherwood; his daughter, Donna (David) Sherwood-Jackson; his grandchildren, Lee (Ashley) Sherwood, Devin (Leann) Goldenstein, and Laurel (Anthonie) Hartman-Johnson; and his 3 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Quint L. Sherwood; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Quint Sherwood as an expression of our sympathy.
